Indoor Play for a Hot Day

Indoor Play for a Hot Day

Dealing with the triple digits this summer can be extra tough on the little ones. They can turn a little wild when they don’t get their required playground/running around time. Here are a few ideas of places to help them spend their energy indoors.

Inflatable Gyms

Your kids are probably already going crazy bouncin’ round the room. Why not take them somewhere that is like a padded cell and you can relax knowing they won’t knock their teeth out on the coffee table?

Kidz’n'Play 6100 Airport Blvd,В has tons of inflatable play houses.Admission is $5 under 3 and $8 ages 3-11.They also offer party packages for birthdays.Every Saturday this summer, Kid’n'Play is having Story and Craft Time from 10:30-11:30.

Locomotion Inflatable PlayВ 6800 Westgate, has 12,ooo square feet of play area with a separate infant/toddler area. They offer snacks and drinks and have 6 party areas. In addition to the inflatables, Locomotion also has a kid sized town with a grocery store, animal hospital, garage, diner, and theatre.Admission is $7 ages 1-3, and $8 ages 4-10

Jumpy GymВ 1807 Slaughter Ln.offers inflatables as well as a train table, dress up area with costumes, blocks and an art room.Admisson is $8 ages 1-18 and free for under 1.They also can accommodate parties and offer special prcing for playgroups.

Austin Children’s Museum

The Austin Children’s Museum, located downtown, can be a fun place for children to play and explore. They have changing and permanent exhibits that teach and stimulate the imagination. The museum offers several storytimesВ and specific baby days so the little ones don’t get run over.Admission is $6.50 age 2 and up, $4.50 12-23 months and 1 year and under free.Every Wednesday 5-8 is community night and admission is a suggested $1 donation, and Sundays from 4-5 are free.

If your little monkey is climbing the walls get him a proper wall to climb at theВ Austin Rock Gym.В They offer a South GymВ and a North GymВ location. When it comes to the kids they say «there are no height or age requirements.» Admission is $10 for a day pa*s for 10 and under with a $5 parent belay pa*s.Check out the Monkey Business climbing program for ages 4-7.

Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex

The MYEC pretty much has it all.Bowling, skating, movies, an arcade and food.I don’t think the words «I’m bored» have ever been uttered within these walls.Summer hours are Wednesdays & Thursdays 1-9 p.m.and Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m- 11p.m.They are located on the east sideВ and would make a great place for a party.
