Everyday I load Carson into his wagon, get the dogs leashes on and we got on a walk around the block and check the mail.Well, the other day we were doing our usual walk and all of a sudden I hear something RUNNING behind us.It's a huge, beefy looking Pit bull.It all of a sudden starts attacking Dinky, I tried kicking it off (of course I was wearing flip-flops), and he started going towards me.Luckily, a car stopped and scared the dog away and helped us out.I had to continue around the block to get back home.Dinky's nose was bleeding (just a bloody nose) and I was literally shaking.I called Scott at work, and he was furious, he told me to stay on the phone with him until I got back in the house.I rea*sured him that we were okay now because we were on our street.WRONG.I walk down our street farther (we are at the end of our cul-de-sac), and in the cul-de-sac that branches off the street, low and behold there is that dang pit bull again. It ran straight for us, didn't do much damage because thankfully there was a nice military man willing to help us out and made sure we got home okay.
I was never "really" against pit bulls, I just knew that I personally would never own one. This experience has changed my perspective.I now can't walk without fear in MY OWN neighborhood, because of a DOG.For some reason in the city we live in there are a lot of pit bulls, my guess is that there is a lot of dog fighting that goes on in this area.If you are going to be a pet owner, especially an aggressive pet, be responsible.Make sure your dog is secured in your yard, or in the house, even in a dog crate. My dogs were leashed, and friendly, I should not have to walk my streets in fear because there are so many irresponsible pet owners.
I know that so many people love pit bulls, sorry people who love pit bulls, I'm not longer on your team.I am against them, you never know when they are going to turn (like any animal for that matter), but these dogs have been breed to fight, kill, attack, and be loyal to their own.
In other new, Scott and I went to petsmart today to get tags for our dogs and some shampoo (they smell so good now). There was this dog there at the rescue that had been left in the desert.Scott and I SERIOUSLY considered. We even walked away and came back...thought about it some more.We have our hands full right now, but in the future we would LOVE to adopt a dog, specifically a rescue.
